Maleno Volunteers at Second Harvest Food Bank
Nine team members from Maleno Property Management showed their community spirit at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Northwest Pennsylvania. On Tuesday, October 25th, the group dontated two hours of time and labor to pack military boxes filled with food bank items such as frozen meats, cereals, canned vegetables, juices, and more. "Giving back to the community is one of our core principles, at Maleno," said Natalie Washburn, Owner/Broker. "In addition to helping others through our Maleno Family to Family Fund, we feel volunteering at Second Harvest is a natural fit. Helping those in need is something we and our employees are excited to do".
Second Harvest is a member of Feeding America, a network of food banks and food distribution programs in the United States. They provide food to those in need who live within 11 counties of Northwest Pennsylvania. They also create awareness and educate the community on the realities of hunger. In Pennsylvania alone, 1 in 11 people struggle with hunger. Even more startling, 1 in 8 are children.
The team took three hours out of their work day to build and pack the boxes under the direction of Second Harvest staff. "It makes me feel good to work for a company that puts others first. We're all grateful to be given this opportunity. Knowing someone's holiday is going to be a bit brighter is motivation enough," expressed Wendy Rhines, Director of Marketing. Team members included the office staff and maintenance crew.
