Maleno Brings Joy to Children Worldwide
Maleno Real Estate and Property Management’s 10th Annual Operation Christmas Child Drive: A Heartwarming Success
Erie, PA – November 15, 2024 – The spirit of giving was in full display as Maleno Real Estate and Property Management celebrated the triumphant success of their 9th annual Operation Christmas Child drive. This year, the initiative filled 350 shoeboxes with gifts and essentials for children in need, thanks to the generous contributions from apartment residents, homeowners, employees, family, and friends. The shoebox packing event, held at the Property Management office after hours on Thursday, November 14th, was a joyful occasion led by the community's children, for children around the world.
A Decade of Dedication
For nearly the past decade, Maleno has committed to spreading joy and hope through Operation Christmas Child, a global initiative by Samaritan's Purse. This annual event aims to provide children in poverty-stricken areas with shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other essentials. The impact of this simple act of kindness reaches far beyond the gifts themselves, bringing smiles and hope to children who may otherwise have little to celebrate during the holiday season.
Community Comes Together
The success of this year’s drive was the result of a collaborative effort that underscored the strength and unity of the Erie community. Donations poured in from various quarters—apartment residents, homeowners, employees, and their families and friends—all eager to contribute to the cause. The participation of community members in filling the shoeboxes was equally heartwarming, with children enthusiastically joining the effort, embodying the spirit of giving.
Natalie Washburn, Owner and Broker of Maleno Real Estate, expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this year’s Operation Christmas Child drive. The generosity and support from our community never cease to amaze me. It’s truly wonderful to see so many people come together to make a difference in the lives of children who need it the most.”
A Fun-Filled Packing Event
The shoebox packing event at the Property Management office was a lively and joyous occasion, filled with laughter and excitement. Children from the community gathered to pack the shoeboxes, each one carefully filled with items that would bring delight to the recipients. The sight of young volunteers, diligently selecting and arranging gifts, was a testament to the values of empathy and kindness being passed down to the next generation.
Natalie Washburn shared her thoughts on the event, “Seeing the children so engaged and excited to pack the shoeboxes is incredibly rewarding. It’s a beautiful reminder of the impact we can have when we come together as a community. The smiles on their faces as they packed each box were priceless.”
