Evie Sornberger, 72, has lived in her 115 year old home since 1973. This mother of 2, grandmother of 8, and great-grandmother of 8 more, has been self-sufficient and a real go-getter her whole life.
Evie managed the upkeep of her home until she was struck with a health condition involving her joints. Since then, the original front steps to the main entrance have completely collapsed, and the foundation is caving in. Knowing this is a safety issue, not only for visitors to her home but for curious children playing around the area, Evie attempted to work with a contractor to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the contractor took her deposit, broke up the steps, and left without making the repairs.
In addition, Evie's 25 year old furnace needed repaired or replaced. Someone came to look at it, became concerned so they turned off the gas. Evie currently does not have a working furnace.
The Maleno Family to Family Fund team was on the job! Evie received a new furnace, a new porch, new steps and walkway, as well as some new concrete for her driveway.
